Penang is as happening and lively as Kuala Lumpur when it comes to nightlife. The cosmopolitan beat, vibrant lifestyles and party flavours all come together in the nightspots of Penang, most prominently in the Upper Penang Road area of Georgetown and the beach belt of Batu Ferringhi. Tourists and visitors can find a great number of bars, clubs, bistros and discos to party the night away in these places.

The historical Penang Road was once the spot to get the best bread in town, but times have changed and now the northern section of this road is home to the trendiest night clubs and venue for party people. However, the Upper Penang Road, as it is called, still retains some historical heritage in the architecture of its buildings and cultural charm of the street. This gives it a unique and distinct nightlife flavour that you can only find in Penang.

The next best place to find entertainment at night in Penang is the tourist belt of Batu Ferringhi. Hotels, restaurants and bars line the popular beach road, imbuing each night with the colours of neon lights and music from live bands. A night market, called the pasar malam, also occurs along this road at night. If you like karaoke, some of the hotels have lounges for this purposes.
