Penang offers many activities for the whole family to enjoy on holiday. After visiting all the tourist destinations on the island, you can check out some of the other things to do, such as golfing on one of Penang's three courses, engaging in water sports along the beaches of Batu Ferringhi or Tanjung Bungah, and enjoying a boat ride along the sea to visit some of the remote beaches or off shore islands around Penang.
Golf
Penang has several international standard golf courses that will satisfy avid lovers of this sport. They are; Bukit Jambul Golf and Country Club, an established course with 18 holes; Bukit Jawi Golf Club, with a massive 36-hole course; and the Penang Golf Resort, which is located on the mainland in the Seberang Prai district of Penang that has 36 holes. Golfers will enjoy teeing off in green surroundings and lush landscapes on these courses.
Water Sports
Water Sports are some of Penang's most popular activities, thanks to its scenic beaches and warm seas that provide for great fun. Families and friends can enjoy sports such as sailing, wind surfing, water skiing, speedboat rides, banana boat rides and para gliding along the coast. The best spots to enjoy these pursuits are Batu Ferringhi and Tanjung Bungah beaches. The uninhabited islands of Pulau Telur, Bidan and Song Song are also ideal venues.
Boat Rides
Boat rides are a new way for visitors to discover Penang's natural heritage. Tour operators now offer cruises on light boats to see sights such as the Penang Bridge, Penang Port, Esplanade, Gurney Drive and just enjoying the pleasant scenery of other ferries and ships passing by. Some of the tours also include boat trips to remote nature destinations, such as Pantai Keracut, Sungai Tukun and the Penang National Park in Teluk Bahang, in order to see wildlife and lush forests that still line the island.
